Te mapa
Marechal Deodoro lies on the shore of the Manguaba lagoon, south of Maceió, in the state of Alagoas. It was the first capital of the province, before the seat moved to Maceió in 1839, and it is the birthplace of Deodoro da Fonseca, the first president of Brazil, whose name the town now carries. On a map the historic centre is compact, pressed against the water.
The old town keeps a colonial street pattern of short, irregular lanes around churches and convents, including the Franciscan convent that is one of its best-known buildings. From there the municipality stretches toward the Atlantic, where Praia do Francês draws visitors with its reef-sheltered water. The lagoon, channels and coast give the map a wide variety of shoreline.
A Marechal Deodoro map poster brings together history and water. The small colonial core sits beside the lagoon's broad, soft outline, with roads leading out toward the coast. It is a meaningful print for people from Alagoas and for anyone who spent time on its beaches or walked the old streets.
