Te mapa
Marratxí lies on the plain of Mallorca, directly north-east of Palma. It is not a single town but a group of villages and residential areas spread across the municipality, each with its own centre, linked by roads and separated by fields, orchards and newer housing. Growth from Palma has joined some of them together in recent decades.
That makes the map unusual. Instead of one dense core, the sheet shows several clusters of streets of different sizes, with the older villages marked by irregular lanes and the newer areas by more regular blocks. Main roads and the railway from Palma cross the municipality, tying the clusters together and giving the composition its structure.
A Marratxí map poster captures this spread-out pattern clearly. The municipality is known for its pottery tradition, and its annual clay fair celebrates the craft of local potters, including the small painted clay figures known as siurells. For islanders and anyone with ties to Mallorca beyond the coast, it is a map of the island's quieter interior.
Several separate clusters of streets are spread across the map, each an older village with its own irregular lanes and small central square.
Main roads and the railway run out from Palma through the municipality, strong lines that connect the scattered settlements and organise the poster.
Farmland and orchards fill the space between the built-up areas, leaving open ground that separates the villages and keeps each one distinct.

Koteā ko Marratxí
Marratxí is home for many people who work in Palma but want a quieter village setting, and for families with long roots in its pottery tradition. A map of the municipality shows the island away from the beaches.
