Te mapa
Marsberg lies in the Hochsauerland district of North Rhine-Westphalia, in the valley of the Diemel near the border with Hesse. The town has two distinct parts: Obermarsberg, the old settlement on a steep hilltop, and Niedermarsberg, which spreads along the river in the valley below. On a map, the contrast between the two is immediately visible.
The hilltop is historically significant. It is associated with the Eresburg, a Saxon stronghold captured by Charlemagne in 772 during his campaigns against the Saxons, an event linked to the destruction of the Irminsul sanctuary. The collegiate church on the hill still marks this old centre, while the valley town grew around industry and transport.
A Marsberg map poster shows a town shaped by terrain. The curving Diemel and the valley roads form long, flowing lines, while Obermarsberg's small cluster of streets sits apart on its plateau, connected by winding roads. Forested slopes surround both, leaving wide quiet areas that frame the composition.
The historic hilltop settlement forms a compact cluster of streets high above the valley, reached by winding roads and clearly separate on the map.
The river winds through the lower town, with roads and the railway following its curves and drawing long lines across the composition.
Wooded hills surround the town on all sides, creating large open areas on the map that emphasise the separation between hill and valley.

Koteā ko Marsberg
Marsberg is a map of two levels, and people who know the town recognise that immediately. It makes a meaningful piece for Sauerland families, history enthusiasts interested in the Saxon wars, or anyone who has walked up from the valley to the old town.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line with a family name or date, and choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Paper gives the medieval hilltop a quiet, archival feel.
