Midar Map Poster
Midar is a small town in the eastern Rif of northern Morocco, in the province of Driouch. From above, it follows a main road, with streets branching off to either side and climbing gently up the surrounding slopes. Beyond the town, the land is a pattern of farm plots, dry valleys and winding rural roads.
Like many towns in the Rif, Midar has strong ties to emigration: many families have relatives in Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium or Germany, and the summer months bring many visitors home. Its market brings in people from the surrounding villages and remains central to the life of the town.
