Te mapa
Milton is one of the newest cities in the Atlanta area, incorporated in 2006 in the northern part of Fulton County. Its map looks nothing like a downtown grid. Long rural roads curve across rolling terrain, and subdivisions branch off them in loops and cul-de-sacs, with large wooded and open parcels in between. The overall effect is loose, green and deliberately low in density.
The city has made a point of protecting its semi-rural, equestrian character, and horse farms and pastures remain part of the landscape. The historic Crabapple crossroads serves as a small, village-like centre. A Milton map poster shows this balance of countryside and suburb, with the fine branching streets of the neighbourhoods set against quiet stretches of open land.
In black and white, the creeks and small ponds scattered across the area add soft, organic shapes, while the curving roads give the composition movement. The result is a surprisingly lyrical map, closer to a drawing of a landscape than a city plan, and very different from the dense street patterns closer to Atlanta.

Old rural roads curve through Milton, following the rolling land. They form the map's main structure, with subdivisions and driveways branching off them like twigs.
Pastures and equestrian properties take up large parcels across the city. On paper they read as generous open spaces that give Milton its distinctly uncrowded look.
