Mioveni lies in Argeș County, a short distance northeast of Pitești, and its map is shaped by one enterprise: the Dacia automobile plant, now part of the Renault group. The factory site, historically associated with the district of Colibași, covers a very large area of halls, yards and test tracks at the edge of town.
The town grew around the plant during the socialist period, and much of it consists of apartment blocks arranged in orderly groups along main roads. On the map these appear as regular rectangles set among green spaces, with older village streets surviving at the margins.
