Te mapa
From above, Miramichi is shaped by its river. The Miramichi runs broad and slow through the city, and the settled land follows it in two long bands on the north and south shores. Streets run back from the water in short, regular steps, then thin out into woodland and farm roads. On a map the river is by far the largest shape, and everything else is arranged around it.
The present city was formed in 1995 by merging several communities, among them the older towns of Newcastle and Chatham. That history still shows in the street pattern. Instead of one centre there are separate clusters of denser blocks, each with its own main street near the water, joined by highways and the bridges that cross the river.
A Miramichi map poster puts that riverside layout on paper: the wide channel, the grids on either bank and the scattered roads beyond. The river is known well past New Brunswick for its Atlantic salmon runs, and anglers have come here for generations. In black and white, the water reads as a single calm band through the frame.
The river widens as it moves east through the city toward Miramichi Bay. On the poster it is the largest open shape, a pale band dividing the two shores.
The former towns of Newcastle and Chatham each kept a compact grid near the water. On the map they appear as two denser patches linked by longer roads.
Bridges tie the north and south shores together. Their thin lines across the broad channel are among the clearest details in the composition.

Koteā ko Miramichi
People who grew up on the Miramichi often think of home as a river more than a town. A map of the city keeps both shores and the water between them in one frame, whether it hangs in a kitchen nearby or a flat far from New Brunswick.
You can add your own title, a subtitle such as a year or family name, and the coordinates line, then choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The HD files cost $9, or you can order a printed poster with an optional wooden frame.
