On the equator
The equator line passes right by the town. That gives Nanyuki a rare geographic position, one you can mark in the coordinates line of the poster.

Te mapa
Nanyuki lies almost exactly on the equator, at the foot of Mount Kenya's northwestern slopes. The town itself is compact: a small central area of main streets and market blocks, with neighbourhoods and estates spreading out along the roads. Beyond them, the open grasslands of the Laikipia plateau stretch away to the north and west.
The Nanyuki River runs down from the mountain and through the town. It is a thin line of water and trees among the streets. The main highway passes through the centre toward Nyeri and Meru. Ranches, conservancies and rural roads fill the surroundings, so on the map the town looks like a small, dense patch on a broad, empty field.
Nanyuki is known as a base for climbers heading up Mount Kenya and for visitors travelling to the Laikipia wildlife conservancies. It is also home to a Kenya Air Force base and a British Army training unit. A Nanyuki map poster shows a crossroads town where the mountain meets the plains.
The equator line passes right by the town. That gives Nanyuki a rare geographic position, one you can mark in the coordinates line of the poster.
The river flows down from Mount Kenya and cuts through the town. It forms a narrow natural corridor among the streets and market blocks.
The main road runs through the centre, linking the town with Nyeri and Meru. It is the spine that the town has grown along.
