Nāteputa, also written Natepute, is a town in the Malshiras area of Solapur district in southern Maharashtra. It lies on the Deccan plateau, in country that is mostly flat to gently rolling, with low hills in the distance. From above, the town is a compact core of dense lanes, with roads leading out across a landscape of fields and scattered farmsteads.
Like many towns in this part of Maharashtra, Nāteputa is a local centre for the surrounding villages, and its markets, schools and services draw people in from the countryside.
