Te mapa
Nianbo is the main town of Ledu District in Haidong, in the eastern part of Qinghai. It lies in the valley of the Huangshui River, which flows east from Xining toward the Yellow River. From above, the town is long and narrow, squeezed between the river and the dry, folded hills that rise on both sides of the valley floor.
The land dictates the street plan. The main roads run parallel to the river, the railway and expressway follow the same corridor, and short cross streets climb toward the slopes. Fields and orchards fill the flatter ground by the water. On the hillsides, gullies cut into the loess, making a fine texture of ridges around the built-up area.
Ledu lies on the historic route between Gansu and the Tibetan Plateau. Qutan Temple, a Ming-era monastery south of town, is one of the region's best-known sights. A Nianbo map poster captures the classic shape of a Qinghai valley town: a band of streets drawn along a river, with the mountains close by on either side.
The river runs east through the valley and gives the town its orientation. Its channel and the flat land on either side form the spine of the map.
The railway and main roads follow the valley side by side. Their parallel lines run the length of the town and continue toward Xining.
Dry, deeply eroded hills rise on both sides of the valley. Their gullies and ridges give the edges of the poster a delicate, branching texture.

Koteā ko Nianbo
For people from Haidong, or anyone who has travelled the Huangshui valley, this map preserves a simple, recognisable shape: a town drawn along its river with hills on either side. It works well as a quiet reminder of home.
