Te mapa
Nirmal is the headquarters of Nirmal district in northern Telangana, set in gently rolling country a short distance north of the Godavari River. From above, the town has a dense, irregular centre of narrow lanes and markets, with newer neighbourhoods spreading along the main roads. National Highway 44 runs past the town on its route between the north and Hyderabad.
Water tanks, many built centuries ago, lie around and within the town, forming large, smooth shapes among the streets and fields. Low rocky hills rise nearby, and remains of old fortifications stand on some of them. A Nirmal map poster draws these elements together: the tight town centre, its reservoirs, and the network of roads crossing the surrounding farmland.
The town is best known for its crafts. Nirmal toys, carved from soft local wood and painted in bright colours, and Nirmal paintings, with their gold-toned detailing, have both received geographical indication status. Artisans still work in the town, continuing a tradition that has made its name familiar across India.
Large reservoirs sit in and around the town, their rounded outlines standing out clearly against the surrounding streets and fields on the black-and-white map.
The old part of Nirmal is a tight network of lanes and markets. It is the darkest, most detailed area of the map, with streets bending in irregular patterns.
National Highway 44 passes by the town, and newer development follows it in long bands, linking Nirmal to Hyderabad in the south and to cities further north.

Koteā ko Nirmal
Nirmal is a town people associate with craft and tradition, and a map of its streets and tanks makes a fitting piece for anyone with roots here. It also suits a gift for family who have moved to Hyderabad, other cities or abroad.
