Te mapa
North Decatur is a census-designated place in DeKalb County, Georgia, just north of the city of Decatur and east of Atlanta. It has no formal downtown; instead the map shows a patchwork of mid-century residential subdivisions, their streets curving around hills and creek valleys, joined by a few busier roads that carry traffic toward Decatur, Emory and the interstates.
The area sits close to Emory University, and many residents work at the university, its hospitals or the nearby Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Tree cover is heavy, and wooded stream corridors run between the neighbourhoods, part of the Peachtree Creek watershed that eventually drains to the Chattahoochee River.
A North Decatur map poster is all about pattern. The looping residential streets, dead ends and cul-de-sacs create a soft, organic texture across the sheet, broken by the green corridors of the creeks where no roads run. It is a very different image from a gridded city map, and that is much of its appeal.
Mid-century neighbourhoods fill most of the map with looping streets and cul-de-sacs, forming a gentle, flowing pattern across the rolling ground.
Wooded stream valleys wind between the neighbourhoods, remaining largely unbuilt and appearing as calm open channels through the street network.
A handful of main roads cross the area toward Decatur and Emory, the straighter, stronger lines that hold the looser residential pattern together.
