Te mapa
North Miami sits in northeast Miami-Dade County, north of Miami, on the western shore of Biscayne Bay. Its map is dominated by the numbered street grid typical of South Florida, with NE 125th Street as the main east-west spine and Biscayne Boulevard running north-south near the water. East of the boulevard, the grid breaks up into mangrove edges, inlets and park land.
The shoreline is what makes it distinctive from above. Florida International University's Biscayne Bay Campus occupies waterfront land on the bay, and small creeks thread through residential blocks toward it. Arch Creek, which gives its name to a park marking the site of a natural limestone bridge, is one of those waterways, a rare curve in an otherwise rectilinear city.
A North Miami map poster works as a portrait of a dense, lived-in grid meeting open water. The city is also home to the Museum of Contemporary Art, and its neighbourhoods have strong Haitian and Caribbean communities, but on paper the story is geometric: thousands of right angles resolving into the soft line of the bay.
The city's main commercial corridor runs east-west across the grid, linking inland neighbourhoods to Biscayne Boulevard. On the poster it reads as a firm horizontal through the centre.
To the east the grid dissolves into mangroves, inlets and campus grounds along the bay. That irregular edge gives the map a strong contrast between built and open space.
One of the few winding waterways in the city, Arch Creek curves through residential streets and lends its name to a small park at the site of a former natural limestone bridge.

Koteā ko North Miami
North Miami is a place people often live in for years: near the bay, close to the city, with an address that means something. The map suits anyone who grew up here, studied at the bay campus or simply wants a reminder of South Florida light and water.
Add your own title or a date to the print, edit the coordinates line, and pick one of five styles; Blueprint and Noir suit the strong grid especially well. Order a matte printed poster, with an optional wooden frame, or download the HD files.
