Te mapa
North Valley Stream is a hamlet in the Town of Hempstead in Nassau County, just across the border from Queens. On a map, it is solidly suburban. Short residential blocks of closely spaced houses fill most of the area, broken by major parkways and roads that carry traffic between New York City and the rest of Long Island.
The community grew mostly in the mid-twentieth century, when many families moved from the city to nearby suburbs. Its streets follow a mix of grids and curves, shaped by earlier roads and property lines. Valley Stream State Park lies nearby along the Southern State Parkway, adding a strip of green and a winding stream to the dense street pattern.
A North Valley Stream map poster captures the grain of classic Long Island suburbia: a close pattern of residential streets, the strong line of a parkway and a green corridor running through. It is a good choice for people who grew up there, who now commute from there, or who remember a first family house on one of its blocks.

Major parkways and roads cross the community, cutting bold lines through the residential grid and linking it to Queens and Long Island.
Valley Stream State Park adds a strip of trees and a winding stream along the parkway, a soft green break in the suburban pattern.
