Te mapa
Nova Xavantina sits on the banks of the Rio das Mortes in eastern Mato Grosso. On a map, the river loops past the town as a broad, winding line, and a bridge carries the road across. The streets form a largely regular grid on the flat ground beside the water, laid out with wide blocks typical of towns founded in the twentieth century in central Brazil.
The town has its roots in the Roncador-Xingu Expedition of the 1940s, the government-backed push into the interior associated with the Villas-Bôas brothers. A base on the Rio das Mortes became the start of the settlement. Today the surrounding land is cerrado and farmland, with large rural properties extending far from the town.
A Nova Xavantina map poster pairs the river's free curves with the order of a planned grid. The bridge links the two sides, and the open land around the edges keeps the composition clean. It's a map with a story about the opening of Brazil's interior.
The river bends past the town in wide loops. It's the strongest natural feature on the poster and frames the grid on one side.
A road bridge crosses the Rio das Mortes, linking the town to the other bank. It's a short, clear line across the water.
Wide, regular blocks reflect the town's twentieth-century origins. They form an orderly pattern that reads clearly at every print size.
