Or Yehuda lies in the Tel Aviv District, just east of the city and close to Ben Gurion Airport. On the map, it forms a compact urban area bounded by major roads, including Highway 4 and several regional routes. Inside, residential neighbourhoods form tight patterns of streets, while larger industrial and commercial areas appear at the edges.
The city was settled largely by immigrants, many from Iraq and North Africa, in the years after Israel's founding. It is home to the Babylonian Jewry Heritage Center, which documents the history of Iraqi Jewish communities. Its position between the coast and the airport has made it part of the fast-growing central region.
