Te mapa
Ordu occupies a thin strip of level ground on Turkey's Black Sea coast, with the sea on one side and hills rising almost at once on the other. The map is long and slender. A coastal highway runs along the shore, the densest streets pack into the narrow flat band beside it, and side roads climb inland up ridges and valleys covered in orchards.
Above the centre rises Boztepe, a hill reached by road and by cable car, with a viewpoint looking down over the rooftops and the curve of the bay. On the map its contours read as a clear boundary to the town. The streets that do climb it twist back and forth in tight bends to manage the slope.
The hillsides around Ordu are densely planted with hazelnut trees, and the province is one of the largest hazelnut-producing regions in the world. Small streams come down from the hills to the sea, cutting short valleys through the settled area. An Ordu map poster shows a city defined almost entirely by its edge, where mountain and sea come very close together.

Rising directly behind the centre, Boztepe is laced with winding roads and served by a cable car. Its slopes form a steep backdrop to the town.
Short streams run down from the hills to the sea. The narrow valleys they cut break the town into sections and bring green lines into the map.

Koteā ko Ordu
Ordu is a city people leave for work and come back to every summer, and anyone who has looked down from Boztepe knows its long shoreline at a glance. A map makes a fitting reminder of family, of harvest seasons and of the sea.
