Te mapa
Palamós occupies a small headland on the Costa Brava. The old quarter crowds onto the point, and the harbour sits in the shelter behind it. To the west, the main beach follows a wide, smooth curve of bay, and the newer streets spread inland from there. To the north-east, the coastline breaks into rocky coves, including the beach at La Fosca.
The town is still a working fishing port. It is famous across Spain for the gamba de Palamós, a red prawn landed here that is prized by chefs. The Museu de la Pesca by the harbour tells the story of fishing along this coast, and the daily arrival of the fleet still sets part of the town's rhythm.
A Palamós map poster shows the contrast between the smooth arc of the bay and the dense knot of streets on the headland. The sea takes up a large part of the frame, so the shoreline does most of the work. In a two-tone print the coastline reads almost like a single pen stroke.
Narrow streets fill the point above the harbour. It is the densest part of the map, and it contrasts clearly with the open water on either side.
Breakwaters and quays enclose the port in straight, engineered lines. They sit next to the natural curve of the bay and give the coast a crisp edge.
Past the town, the shoreline becomes irregular, with small bays such as La Fosca cut into the rock. They give the edge of the map a finer texture.

Koteā ko Palamós
Many people know Palamós from summers on the Costa Brava or from a meal by the port. A map of the bay is a restrained way to keep that coastline in view, especially in a room that could do with a sense of the sea.
The title, subtitle and coordinates can be personalised, perhaps with the year of a first visit. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, as $9 digital files or a matte printed poster.
