Te mapa
Palo Alto stretches from the San Francisco Bay to the foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains, and its map records that climb. The Baylands along the shore are a mesh of sloughs and marsh channels, the flat middle of the city is filled with a dense residential grid, and to the west the streets thin out into winding roads and open hillside preserves.
The city takes its name from El Palo Alto, a tall redwood that still stands beside San Francisquito Creek, which forms the northern boundary. Downtown clusters around University Avenue near the Caltrain station, and the avenue continues as Palm Drive into Stanford University, whose large campus lies just across the city line.
Palo Alto is often called the birthplace of Silicon Valley. The garage on Addison Avenue where Hewlett-Packard was founded in 1939 is a registered landmark, and many neighbourhoods are filled with mid-century Eichler houses. A Palo Alto map poster maps the whole slope, from marsh edge to campus to foothills.
On the bay side, tidal sloughs and marsh channels create fine, branching lines that contrast with the ordered streets inland.
Downtown's main street runs straight past the station and continues as Palm Drive toward Stanford's central quad, a clear axis across the map.
West of the grid, roads curve through open hills and parkland, loosening the map into long, contour-following lines.

Koteā ko Palo Alto
Palo Alto means different things to different people: a first startup, a Stanford degree, a family home under the oaks. The map puts campus, downtown and the foothills together in one frame, a quiet record of years spent here.
Title it Palo Alto or Stanford, add a graduation year or founding date as the subtitle and keep or edit the coordinates line. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint suits a place associated with engineering.
