Te mapa
Parkland is at the northwestern edge of Broward County in South Florida, where suburban development gives way to the protected wetlands of the Everglades. The city was planned with low density in mind, and on a map it looks very different from the tight grids to the east. Streets curve and loop, cul-de-sacs branch off main roads, and residential lots are large.
Water is everywhere in the layout. Man-made lakes and canals, which are typical of South Florida drainage, sit among the neighbourhoods and form smooth shapes between the streets. Parks and nature preserves add further open space, and some neighbourhoods have an equestrian character, with larger properties and fewer roads.
A Parkland map poster has a softer composition than most city maps. There are no dense blocks, only flowing lines, water shapes and a lot of open space. The western edge, where development stops against conservation land, gives the map a clear natural border.
Residential roads wind and loop rather than following a grid, which gives the map a flowing pattern typical of planned suburban neighbourhoods.
Numerous man-made lakes and drainage canals sit among the neighbourhoods and appear as smooth shapes that break up the streets.
To the west, development ends abruptly at protected wetlands, and that boundary forms a clean, open edge on the poster.
