Te mapa
Penedo sits on the left bank of the São Francisco river in Alagoas, not far upstream from where the river meets the Atlantic. The town was built on a rocky rise above the water, which gave it its name, and from above the historic centre appears as a tight cluster of streets running along the bank and climbing the slope behind it.
Penedo is one of the oldest settlements in the region, and its colonial centre, with churches such as the Franciscan convent of Nossa Senhora dos Anjos, is protected as national heritage. Across the wide river lies Neópolis, in the state of Sergipe, reached by boat, and the water between them is the strongest element on the map.
A Penedo map poster captures that river-town geometry: the broad band of the São Francisco, the old town hugging its bank and the newer districts spreading inland on higher ground. In black and white, the colonial street pattern and the water make a strong, balanced composition with a clear sense of place.
One of the largest rivers in Brazil forms a wide, calm band along the edge of the town, dominating the composition in its final stretch before the sea.
Narrow streets and small squares cluster near the water, lined with churches and old houses, forming the most detailed and textured part of the poster.
Across the river lies Neópolis, on the Sergipe side, linked by boat, so the map shows two states facing each other over the water.
