Te mapa
Polokwane is the capital of Limpopo province. Its centre is a classic South African grid: straight streets meeting at right angles, with rectangular blocks arranged around a central core. From that core the city spreads outward in broader suburban patterns. Curving residential roads and larger plots take over as the grid loosens toward the edges, where the surrounding bushveld begins.
The town was founded in the nineteenth century as Pietersburg and renamed Polokwane in 2005. The N1 highway, the main route from Johannesburg toward Zimbabwe, passes along it. That makes the city a natural stopping point on the long drive north. Peter Mokaba Stadium, built for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, is one of the clearest shapes on the map.
The surrounding plateau is fairly level, so the city has no dramatic coastline or river to organise it. Instead, a Polokwane map poster draws its interest from contrast: the tight, regular downtown blocks against the looser townships and suburbs around them. The result is a calm, legible composition that shows clearly how a provincial capital grew outward from its original plan.
The original town centre is laid out as a regular grid of straight streets and rectangular blocks. It forms a crisp, dense core that stands out clearly from the surrounding suburbs.
Built for the 2010 World Cup, the stadium's rounded footprint and the open ground around it make a clear landmark on the southern side of the city.
The national highway north toward Zimbabwe passes the city. On the poster it is a strong through-line that places Polokwane on the long route across Limpopo.

Koteā ko Polokwane
Anyone who grew up in Polokwane, studied there or stopped on the way north knows its grid by heart. A map shows home as a pattern of blocks and roads, which makes a quieter keepsake than a photograph.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates. Use the old name, a suburb or a meaningful date. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The regular grid looks especially sharp in Noir and Blueprint.
