Te mapa
Poso sits on the northern coast of Central Sulawesi, facing the calm waters of the Gulf of Tomini. The Poso River runs through the town to the sea, and it is the defining feature of the map: a curving channel that splits the streets into two halves joined by bridges. The shoreline forms a long, gentle edge, and the town stretches along it rather than far inland.
The river flows north out of Lake Poso, one of Indonesia's deepest lakes, which lies in the highlands to the south near Tentena. Poso is the administrative centre of its regency and a stopping point between the coast and the interior, and roads from the town lead inland toward the lake and the central highlands.
A Poso map poster shows a town organised by water. The coast gives the composition its base, the river draws a strong line through the centre, and the bridges mark where the two sides meet. Beyond the streets, the land rises toward forested hills, and the drawing grows quieter as the network thins out.
The river curves through the town to its mouth on the gulf, splitting the street network and giving the map its strongest natural line.
The coast of the Gulf of Tomini forms a long, smooth edge to the north, leaving the open water as a calm field of white.
Bridges link the two halves of the town, and the streets gather toward them, showing clearly how the river shapes the way people move.
