Te mapa
Prunedale is an unincorporated community in northern Monterey County, and from above it looks nothing like a conventional town. There is no dense grid and no clear downtown. Instead, homes are spread along lanes that curve over hills and dip into small valleys, with woodland and open land between them. The pattern is scattered and organic, shaped more by the terrain than by any plan.
US Route 101 cuts through the area on its way between Salinas and the San Francisco Bay Area. It forms the one firm straight line in an otherwise meandering network. The community's name recalls the prune orchards that once grew here, part of the farming history of this stretch of the Central Coast before homes spread across the hills.
A Prunedale map poster captures that looseness well. Because the roads rarely run parallel, the print has an almost hand-drawn quality, with cul-de-sacs and ridge roads branching like veins. Placing the highway through the middle gives the composition an anchor, while the surrounding hills, shown only through the streets that climb them, bring movement across the sheet.
The main north–south route of the Central Coast crosses Prunedale as a clean, confident line. It is the only element on the map that runs straight for any real distance.
Residential roads wind over the slopes and end in small clusters. Together they form a branching pattern that looks more like a river system than a street plan.
Wide gaps between the lanes, once orchards and pasture, still show as open space. They give the map room to breathe and a clearly rural character.
