Te mapa
Qorasuv lies in the Andijan region of Uzbekistan, at the eastern end of the Fergana Valley. It is a border town in the most literal sense. Across the frontier sits Kara-Suu in Kyrgyzstan, whose name is the same word in another spelling. On the map, the two settlements face each other, and the line of the border cuts through what looks like one continuous area.
The land around Qorasuv is flat, irrigated farmland typical of the Fergana Valley. Canals and ditches divide the fields into long plots, and village lanes run along them. The town's streets connect to this agricultural grid, so the edge between town and country is gradual rather than sharp. Trade across the border has long shaped local life.
A Qorasuv map poster captures a place defined by lines, both the canals that water the valley and the frontier between two countries. The linework is dense near the centre and becomes long and regular in the fields. The whole picture reflects how carefully this corner of Central Asia has been farmed and divided.
Kara-Suu in Kyrgyzstan lies directly opposite. On the map, the built-up areas almost meet, with only the frontier line keeping them apart.
Canals and ditches run through and around town, dividing the valley floor into long plots. Their steady lines give the map its structure.
Flat, intensively farmed land surrounds the town. Lanes follow the field boundaries, and the pattern repeats out toward the edge of the poster.
