The Tisza valley
The river runs the full length of town. Nearly every street either follows it or leads to one of its bridges, which gives the map a clear central spine.

A narrow Carpathian town strung along the Tisza, squeezed between steep forested slopes that leave room for little else.

Te mapa
Rakhiv lies deep in the Ukrainian Carpathians, in Zakarpattia, close to the border with Romania. It is often described as the highest town in Ukraine, and the map makes the terrain obvious. The settlement is a long ribbon along the valley of the Tisza, with streets pressed against the river. Side roads climb a short way up tributary valleys before the forest takes over.
The river organises the whole town. The main road runs beside it, bridges join the two banks, and houses scatter up the slopes wherever the gradient allows. Rakhiv is the base of the Carpathian Biosphere Reserve, and a short way down the valley a well-known marker claims to stand at the geographic centre of Europe. The surrounding district is Hutsul country, known for its highland traditions.
A Rakhiv map poster captures an unusually linear form: one strong waterway, a thread of streets and wide empty space where the mountains rise. In print, the emptiness matters as much as the lines and gives the design a calm rhythm. It suits hikers, people with family roots in these valleys and anyone who has travelled up the Tisza and remembers the view.
The river runs the full length of town. Nearly every street either follows it or leads to one of its bridges, which gives the map a clear central spine.
Short roads branch away from the river into smaller valleys and stop where the slopes steepen, so the built area looks like a branch with short twigs.
Forested ridges surround the town on every side. On the poster they appear as open paper, which frames the thin line of settlement and shows how enclosed the valley is.

Koteā ko Rakhiv
This is a map for people who know the Carpathians on foot or whose families come from these valleys. It shows a town shaped almost entirely by a river and its mountains, which looks unusual and quietly striking on a wall.
