Te mapa
Richmond West is an unincorporated community in southwestern Miami-Dade County, part of the wide suburban belt that extends inland from Biscayne Bay towards the Everglades. The map is shaped by the county's numbered grid, with major streets and avenues set at regular intervals, and the space between them filled with residential subdivisions of curving roads and cul-de-sacs.
This contrast gives the map its character: the straight section-line roads form a large framework of squares, while inside each square the residential streets loop and branch in their own patterns. Canals and retention lakes appear as small shapes of water within the neighbourhoods, a feature of drainage in the flat, low-lying terrain of South Florida.
The area developed mostly in the later decades of the twentieth century, as Miami's suburbs spread west. A Richmond West map poster shows the result clearly: a place of homes, schools and parks organised within a precise frame, with the wider grid of Miami-Dade continuing beyond the edges of the print.
Major streets and avenues run at regular intervals, dividing the area into large squares that give the map a strong and ordered structure.
Within each square residential roads curve into loops and cul-de-sacs, adding fine and noticeably softer detail inside the straight framework of the county grid.
Small retention lakes and drainage canals appear among the houses, typical of South Florida's flat terrain and marked as quiet shapes of water.
