Te mapa
Rio Linda is an unincorporated community in Sacramento County, north of the city of Sacramento, on the flat floor of the Central Valley. From above it looks very different from a typical suburb. Roads run in a wide grid of long, straight lines, and the parcels between them are large, with room for horses, gardens and small farms. Housing is spread out and mixed with open ground.
The former McClellan Air Force Base, now a business park, lies to the south, and its airfield forms a broad, flat shape near the community. Dry Creek and smaller watercourses cross the area and add some of the few curves in an otherwise straight-lined map. To the north and west, the land opens into fields and grassland.
A Rio Linda map poster shows the character of a place that has kept a country feel on the edge of a state capital. The long rectangular blocks, sparse streets and open space give the composition a calm, airy look, with more space than lines.
The roads form a large, regular grid with big lots between them. It is much more open than the dense subdivisions of nearby suburbs and gives the print a spacious look.
Dry Creek winds through the flat land, one of the few natural curves in Rio Linda's network. Trees and green space along its banks make it easy to follow on the map.
The former air base to the south, now a business park, keeps its long runway and large hangar areas. It creates a clear geometric landmark on the map's southern edge.
