Te mapa
Rundu is the regional capital of Kavango East in north-eastern Namibia, and it is built along the south bank of the Okavango River. The river here forms the border with Angola, so the town looks out across the water at another country. From above, the main streets run parallel to the river on the higher ground, and newer districts spread south into the dry bush.
The Okavango is the defining feature of any map of Rundu. It moves in wide, slow bends, with sandbanks, side channels and a green floodplain that broadens and narrows along its course. Further downstream the same river ends in Botswana's Okavango Delta, one of the best-known inland deltas in the world. At Rundu it is still a single river, wide and winding, with the town set neatly along its edge.
A Rundu map poster shows that relationship clearly: a winding band of water across the top of the frame, the denser streets of the town centre just back from the bank, and the quieter road pattern of outlying neighbourhoods behind. It is a simple composition that says a great deal about a frontier town on a river.
The river curves along the northern side of the town and marks the border with Angola. Its channels and sandbars give the print a soft, flowing edge that contrasts with the streets.
The older core of Rundu sits on the rise above the floodplain, where the streets are tighter and more regular, overlooking the water and the Angolan bank opposite.
South of the centre, the settlement opens into a looser pattern of residential streets and sandy tracks. On the map this reads as a lighter texture fading out into the bush.

Koteā ko Rundu
Rundu is a place people often pass through on the way to the Zambezi region or the delta, and some stay for years. A print of the river town is a way to remember the view across the Okavango, or to mark a posting, a school or a family home.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, and choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The $9 download includes six print sizes as 300 DPI PNG and print-ready PDF files, and printed posters are also available.
