Te mapa
Saint-Quentin rises on a gentle slope above the Somme valley in northern France. The old centre sits on the high ground, where a network of streets gathers around the basilica and the main square. Below, the Somme and the Saint-Quentin Canal pass along the edge of town, with the canal's long, straight line contrasting with the softer shape of the river and its marshy ponds.
The town was badly damaged during the First World War, when it stood close to the front. Much of the centre was rebuilt in the 1920s, and Saint-Quentin is now known for its many Art Deco facades. Its flamboyant Gothic town hall survived and still faces the main square. The town also holds a large collection of pastel portraits by Maurice Quentin de La Tour, who was born here.
A Saint-Quentin map poster brings together the tight old core, the ring of later neighbourhoods and the waterways at the bottom of the slope. The canal adds a precise, engineered line, while the river brings softer curves. It is a well-balanced composition that captures a French town shaped by both industry and reconstruction.

The streets of the old centre gather around the large basilica and the main square with its Gothic town hall. Together they form the densest part of the map.
Below the town, the young Somme spreads into ponds and wetlands. On the poster these appear as soft, irregular shapes next to the canal.
