Te mapa
The city of San Marino sits high on Monte Titano, the mountain that rises steeply from the surrounding hills near the Adriatic coast of Italy. From above, the old town is a tight tangle of lanes packed along the western side of the ridge. The eastern side drops away in sheer cliffs, so streets stop abruptly at the edge. Below, roads loop down the slopes in long switchbacks.
Along the ridge stand the three towers, Guaita, Cesta and Montale, which appear on San Marino's flag and coat of arms. The republic traces its founding to the year 301 and is often described as the oldest surviving republic in the world. The historic centre and Monte Titano are listed together as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, along with the old town of Borgo Maggiore below.
A San Marino map poster shows a city defined by height rather than by rivers or coastlines. The dense old town, the walls and the cliff edge create a distinctive outline, while the winding roads below add rhythm. It is an unusual and highly recognisable shape for a capital city.
The limestone mountain that holds the city. Its steep eastern cliff sets a hard edge on the map, where the dense streets suddenly stop.
Guaita, Cesta and Montale stand along the ridge top, linked by paths. They are small on the map but mark the line of the ridge from one end to the other.
Roads descend from the old town in long loops and hairpin bends. They give the lower part of the poster a flowing texture that contrasts with the tight centre.

Koteā ko San Marino
San Marino is a place of day trips, family roots and first views over the Adriatic plain. Its hilltop outline is one of the most distinctive city shapes in Europe, and a map of it makes a thoughtful piece for anyone who has climbed Monte Titano.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps in Italian or with a date. The poster comes in five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Paper and Sand bring out the warm stone of the old town.
