Santa Rosa Beach is an unincorporated community in Walton County, on the Florida Panhandle. It stretches along the Gulf coast, with Choctawhatchee Bay to the north. Seen from above, it is a long, narrow band of land between two bodies of water, with scattered settlements rather than a single town centre.
The coastline is famous for its coastal dune lakes, a rare type of lake found in only a few places in the world. These lakes sit just behind the beach and occasionally open to the Gulf through narrow outflows. On a map they appear as irregular shapes pressed against the shoreline, among the most distinctive details on this stretch of coast.
County Road 30A runs close to the beach, linking a series of small beach communities, while US 98 runs further inland. State parks and forests, including Topsail Hill Preserve and Point Washington State Forest, leave large areas without streets. A Santa Rosa Beach map poster shows that mix of coastline, lakes, scenic road and protected land in clean, balanced lines.

County Road 30A runs parallel to the shore, tying the small beach neighbourhoods together in a long, gently curving line across the map.
Choctawhatchee Bay forms the northern edge of the area, so water frames the land on both sides of the composition.
