Te mapa
Santana do Cariri lies in the Cariri region of southern Ceará, at the foot of the Chapada do Araripe. This long, flat-topped plateau runs along the border with Pernambuco. The town itself is small and compact, a short grid of streets around its church and square. Most of the map's character comes from the land around it, where the plateau's escarpment rises above the valley.
The rocks of the Araripe basin, known to geologists as the Santana Group, have produced some of the best-preserved Cretaceous fossils in the world, including fish, insects and pterosaurs. The town has a paleontology museum run by the Regional University of Cariri. The area is part of the Araripe UNESCO Global Geopark, the first geopark recognised in the Americas.
A Santana do Cariri map poster pairs a modest street plan with a landscape of great scientific interest. Roads climb from the town toward the plateau, and rural tracks lead to the quarries and fossil sites that brought researchers here. For residents, visiting scientists and anyone who has walked these trails, the map shows a place where deep time sits beside everyday life.

A small, regular grid of streets gathers around the church and main square. This compact core is where the rest of the map starts.
Tracks leading out of town reach the limestone quarries and outcrops of the Araripe basin, known worldwide for their exceptionally well-preserved Cretaceous fossils.

The poster suits paleontologists, geology students and travellers who have visited the geopark, as well as families from the Cariri. It is a reminder of a place where a small town and an internationally known fossil site share the same map.
