Te mapa
Santo Ovídio is an urban area in Vila Nova de Gaia, on the south side of the Douro opposite Porto. It sits on higher ground inland from the river, where tightly packed blocks of apartments, shops and older houses meet main roads heading south out of the city.
The name is familiar to many people in the Porto area because of the metro. For years, Santo Ovídio was the southern end of the metro line that crosses the upper deck of the Dom Luís I bridge from Porto. On the map, the rail line and the road corridor running beside it form a strong axis through the district.
A Santo Ovídio map poster shows a thoroughly urban part of Greater Porto: a tight, irregular street network, busy junctions and the clear route linking it north toward the river and the old city on the other bank.
The line from central Porto runs south through Gaia to Santo Ovídio, a straight, deliberate route through the denser street pattern.
Apartment buildings and older streets fill almost every part of the frame, creating a fine, busy texture typical of Porto's inner suburbs.
Depending on the framing, the streets lead north toward the river and its bridges, which connect the district to Porto.

Santo Ovídio is where many people in Greater Porto live, change trains or grew up. A map of it is a personal marker rather than a postcard, with dense streets shown in clean, calm lines.
