Te mapa
São Bernardo do Campo is part of the ABC region, the industrial belt south-east of São Paulo. From above, the dense urban area occupies the northern part of the municipality, while further south the city gives way to the branching shape of the Billings Reservoir, whose many fingers of water reach deep into the land. Beyond it, forested slopes lead toward the edge of the Serra do Mar.
The city became one of the centres of the Brazilian car industry in the second half of the twentieth century, and large factory sites still stand out on the map as broad rectangles. It is also where the metalworkers' strikes of the late 1970s took place, a movement that helped bring Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva into national politics.
Two highways to the coast, the Via Anchieta and the Rodovia dos Imigrantes, cross the municipality on their way down to Santos. A São Bernardo do Campo map poster captures this mix of industrial blocks, residential hills, highway ribbons and wandering reservoir shoreline in a single, balanced frame.
The reservoir's irregular, many-branched shoreline covers a large part of the municipality and gives the map an unusually intricate outline of water.
The Anchieta and Imigrantes highways run north to south as long, parallel lines, linking São Paulo with the port of Santos.
Large factory plots near the main roads appear as broad blocks among finer residential streets, a reminder of the city's role in Brazilian manufacturing.
