Selargius is a town in southern Sardinia, part of the metropolitan area of Cagliari. It lies on the Campidano plain, and its southern side borders the Molentargius wetlands, a protected area of lagoons and former salt pans shared with Cagliari and Quartu Sant'Elena. On a map, that watery boundary contrasts sharply with the dense streets to the north.
The historic centre is built of traditional Campidano houses, low homes arranged around inner courtyards and entered through large gateways. From above these form compact, irregular blocks with narrow lanes, unlike the larger, more regular residential districts added in recent decades as Selargius grew alongside Cagliari. Major roads frame the town and tie it to the city.
Selargius is known for the Matrimonio Selargino, a traditional wedding held each September in which a couple marries in historic Sardinian dress. A Selargius map poster pairs that sense of tradition with a clear urban form: old core, modern expansion and the flat, reflective shapes of the wetlands, all readable in a single frame.
Lagoons and old salt pans along the southern edge appear as large, flat geometric shapes, giving the map a distinctive boundary of water and open space.
Courtyard houses packed along narrow lanes create dense, irregular blocks in the old core, a fine-grained contrast with the newer districts.
Main routes linking Selargius with Cagliari and neighbouring towns cross the frame in long lines, showing how closely the town sits within the wider city.
