Te mapa
Tunis lies at the head of the Gulf of Tunis, but its centre does not touch the sea directly. From above, water frames the city on several sides. To the east is the shallow Lake of Tunis, crossed by a causeway and channel toward La Goulette, and to the southwest is the larger Sebkha Sejoumi salt flat. Low hills rise to the north and west.
Between these bodies of water sits the medina, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Its dense tangle of lanes and courtyards shows up as a compact, almost solid mass on the map, with the Zitouna Mosque at its centre. From the medina, the colonial-era Avenue Habib Bourguiba runs straight east toward the lake, lined by a regular grid of streets.
The ancient site of Carthage lies along the coast to the northeast, beyond the lagoon, and its ruins and residential suburbs belong to the wider metropolitan area. A Tunis map poster combines the medina's intricate pattern, the straight modern boulevards and the calm, open surfaces of lake and salt flat. Few other capitals offer that combination.
The walled old town appears as a dense, irregular knot of lanes and courtyards. It is sharply different from the regular colonial grid immediately to its east.
A causeway and navigation channel cross the shallow lagoon east of the centre toward La Goulette. Together they draw a straight line across a broad expanse of water.
This long, straight boulevard runs from the edge of the medina toward the lake. It is the main axis of the modern city and a clear line on the poster.

Koteā ko Tunis
Tunis is a city of layers, from the medina's courtyards to the cafés along the avenue, and many people carry memories of one particular corner. A map shows how these parts fit together, and it works in both modern and traditional interiors.
Add a quarter, a street or a family name to the title and subtitle, and edit the coordinates line if you wish. There are five styles, Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, as $9 HD files or printed posters.
