Te mapa
Shelbyville is the seat of Bedford County in Middle Tennessee, and its map is organised around a classic courthouse square. From that centre, streets run out in a loose grid towards the edges of town, while the Duck River loops along the north side in a series of tight bends, lined by trees and parkland.
The town is known as the Walking Horse Capital of the World and hosts the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration each year in the days leading up to Labor Day, drawing riders and spectators from across the country. It was also once a centre of pencil manufacturing, which earned it the nickname Pencil City.
A Shelbyville map poster pairs the orderly square with the meandering river, a contrast that gives the design both structure and movement. The surrounding farmland and horse country fill the frame with quieter lines, making it a balanced image for a wall at home or in an office.
The Bedford County Courthouse stands at the centre of a square that anchors the downtown grid, with blocks laid out evenly on every side.
The river winds past the northern side of town in sharp loops, its wooded banks and floodplain forming the map's most natural shape.
Beyond the town, rural roads cross open farmland and pasture, and the showgrounds used for the annual Celebration appear as a large open space.
