Te mapa
Shuangliao is in western Jilin, close to the border with Inner Mongolia, on the broad lowland of the Liao River system. From above, the city is a tidy, rectangular grid set into a very flat landscape. Straight rural roads and long field strips run in every direction. Rivers and old channels wander across the plain nearby, and they are the only curves in an otherwise ruled landscape.
The name means two Liao, a reference to the eastern and western branches of the Liao River that meet in this area. The town used to be known as Zhengjiatun and grew as a railway junction linking the northeast plain with the grasslands to the west. You can still see those tracks on the map, cutting diagonally across the grid.
A Shuangliao map poster is an exercise in restraint. There are no mountains or coastline here. The design comes from the right angles of the streets, the lines of the railways and the loose meanders of the river beyond. It looks graphic and calm, and it fits a minimalist interior.
The central streets form clear rectangular blocks. On a plain this flat, that regularity dominates the map and gives the city a crisp, almost architectural outline.
The rail lines enter the city at angles to the grid. They break the pattern with long, sweeping strokes that recall Shuangliao's origins as a junction town.
Around the city, river channels and oxbows cross the lowland in loose curves. They offer a natural counterpoint to the straight lines of the streets and fields.

Koteā ko Shuangliao
People from western Jilin, or anyone who has taken the trains across the northeast plain, may recognise in this map something that photographs rarely show: how wide and level the land really is, with the city drawn carefully onto it.
The title, subtitle and coordinates can all be changed. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. There is a free 900 px watermarked preview to check the layout before you buy the $9 HD files or order a framed print.
