Te mapa
Simpang Empat lies in the northern part of Perak, Malaysia, on the flat coastal plain between the hills and the Strait of Malacca. As its Malay name suggests, meaning four-way junction, the settlement grew around a crossroads, and from above its map is organised by the roads that meet there and lead out in several directions.
Around the town the landscape is agricultural, with paddy fields, oil palm and rubber plantations, and irrigation channels laid out in long, straight lines. Villages string along the roads, and small streams cross the plain toward the coast.
A Simpang Empat map poster captures this simple, clear structure: a meeting point of roads, a modest cluster of town streets and the regular geometry of farmland around them. It is an honest portrait of a rural Malaysian town, drawn at a human scale.
The junction that gives the town its name sits at the heart of the map, with roads radiating outward and shops and houses gathered around it.
Straight channels and field boundaries cross the plain, creating a regular linear texture typical of northern Perak's rice-growing land.
Houses and kampungs follow the main roads in long, thin lines, giving the edges of the composition a gentle, scattered pattern.
