Singaparna is the administrative seat of Tasikmalaya Regency in West Java, set in the uplands of the Priangan region. The land around it is fertile and cultivated. Rice fields, small rivers and village settlements spread in every direction, with volcanic peaks, including Mount Galunggung, rising in the wider area. On the map, the town is a knot of streets in a dense, patchwork landscape.
