Te mapa
Sliema occupies a small peninsula on Malta's north-east coast. On a map it looks almost completely built over: a close mesh of narrow streets packed between two waterfronts. On the south side, the Strand faces Marsamxett Harbour, with Manoel Island just offshore and Valletta's fortified skyline directly opposite. On the north side, Tower Road follows the open sea along a low shelf of rock.
The tip of the peninsula ends at Tigné Point. There, the angular outlines of old fortifications sit beside a newer waterfront development. Ferries cross the short stretch of water from the Sliema Ferries quay to Valletta, one of the most familiar journeys on the island. On paper, that crossing shows how close the two places really are.
A Sliema map poster works well because the edges do so much. The coastline is sharply cut, the harbour inlets bite deep into the land, and the streets run almost to the water on every side. Inland, the grid tilts and bends as it meets St Julian's to the north-west, and the town continues without a visible border.
A long seafront road follows the rocky northern shore. It forms a clean, curving line between the packed streets and the open Mediterranean.
At the peninsula's tip, angular fortification outlines meet the harbour entrance. Across the water, Valletta's bastions complete the view.
The harbour-side road faces Manoel Island and Valletta. From here, the ferry route crosses Marsamxett in a short, straight line.

Koteā ko Sliema
Sliema is where many people first lived in Malta, studied English or spent a long summer. Its outline, with water on almost every side and Valletta just across the harbour, is easy to recognise even in plain black and white.
You can add the name of your street, the year you arrived, or your own subtitle, and adjust the coordinates line. Choose one of five styles, from crisp Classic to the warm Sand. Printed posters on matte paper ship from partners in more than 30 countries.
