Te mapa
Stabat is the administrative seat of Langkat Regency in North Sumatra, on the road that runs north from Medan toward Aceh. The town is built along the Wampu River, which loops broadly through the area on its way to the Strait of Malacca. From above, the river is the strongest shape on the map: it divides the town and draws the roads toward the bridges that cross it.
The highway runs through the centre as a long, firm line. Markets, offices and shophouses gather along it, and residential lanes branch off at intervals. Away from the centre the street pattern thins quickly into roads that follow plantation boundaries and village paths, a layout typical of the lowlands of eastern Sumatra.
Langkat is known for its oil palm and rubber plantations, and much of the land around Stabat is given over to them. A Stabat map poster shows the town where these patterns meet: a river bend, a highway spine, and the gradual change from town streets to the long straight tracks of the countryside.
The Wampu winds through Stabat in wide curves. It divides the town and gives the composition its main organic shape against the straighter lines of the roads.
The road from Medan toward Aceh passes straight through the centre, and the town's commercial streets line up along it like beads on a thread.
Beyond the built-up area, straight tracks and field roads mark out plantation land. They form a looser geometric pattern at the edges of the map, framing the town.
