Strășeni lies northwest of Chișinău, on the Bîc River, at the edge of the Codri, the forested hills of central Moldova. On the map, the town follows the river valley. Streets are arranged along the valley floor and the lower slopes, while patches of woodland and vineyards cover the higher ground.
The central streets form a loose grid on the flatter land near the river. The railway and the main road to Chișinău run along the valley. Further out, houses spread up the hillsides on curved lanes that follow the terrain, and the gaps between them are filled with gardens and orchards.
