Te mapa
Suisun City sits at the northern edge of Suisun Bay in Solano County, California. From above, it is a meeting of two very different patterns: a compact grid of streets and suburban loops on one side, and on the other, the branching sloughs and open wetland of Suisun Marsh, the largest brackish marsh on the West Coast.
The historic centre sits by the water on Suisun Slough, with a small harbour and a train station on the Capitol Corridor line. Suisun City shares a border with Fairfield, and the two urban areas run into each other, with the rail line marking a clear divide between them.
A Suisun map poster is mostly about water. The marsh channels branch like veins and the slough curls in toward the old waterfront, while the town fits neatly into the dry land. In black and white, the contrast between street grid and wetland is striking.
To the south, a vast network of sloughs and tidal channels branches across the wetland, producing intricate organic shapes that dominate the lower part of the map.
Suisun Slough reaches right into the old town centre, ending at a small harbour where the grid of streets meets the water.
The railway runs past the historic centre and separates Suisun City from neighbouring Fairfield, one straight line between two urban areas.
