Te mapa
Susak is a small island in the Kvarner Gulf, west of Lošinj, and unlike almost every other island in the Adriatic it is made not of limestone but of thick deposits of sand. From above it looks low and rounded, with a gentle coastline and wide sandy bays instead of the rocky edges found nearby.
The one settlement sits by the harbour on the island's sheltered side, with an upper and lower part joined by paths and steps. Beyond the houses, the map shows fields and old vineyards, historically protected by lines of cane against wind and erosion. Paths rather than roads cross the island.
Susak is also known for its folk costume, with short, layered, brightly coloured skirts, still worn on festive days. A Susak map poster keeps the focus on the small, soft shape of the island and its single harbour village in the wide water of Kvarner.
Susak is built on deep layers of sand rather than rock. On the map this shows up as smooth curves and broad bays, noticeably softer than the rugged islands nearby.
The island's houses gather around a small bay, climbing from the waterfront to an upper part of the village. It is the only cluster of lanes on the poster.
Footpaths cross the island between old vineyards and fields, drawn as a loose, fine network. There is little traffic, and the map reflects that quiet, walkable scale.

Koteā ko Susak
Many families descended from Susak live far away, especially in the United States, and the island remains a strong point of return. A map of it is a way to keep that small, sandy place in view in a very different home.
Add a family name to the title, a year of emigration or a reunion in the subtitle, and edit the coordinates line. It is available in Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Sand suits it best.
