Te mapa
Taman Petaling is in the northern part of Kuala Lumpur, among the residential areas that spread out from the city centre. From above, the map shows a patchwork typical of the city: planned housing estates with loops and cul-de-sacs, wider arterial roads joining them together, and patches of green where the land rises.
Kuala Lumpur grew quickly in the second half of the twentieth century, and much of that growth took the form of taman, or planned residential estates. Each has its own small street pattern, and the areas in between are linked by expressways whose curving ramps show clearly on a map.
A Taman Petaling map poster shows this layered structure on a personal scale. It is less about landmarks and more about the shape of everyday life, the streets around a home, the roads out to work, and the quiet green edges between neighbourhoods.
Residential streets form small self-contained patterns of loops and short cross roads. Each estate has its own shape, which gives the map a varied texture.
Elevated roads and interchanges cut across the area in long sweeping lines, joining the neighbourhood to the rest of Kuala Lumpur.
Pockets of hillside and open land sit between the built-up areas. On the poster they appear as calm, empty spaces between the streets.

A neighbourhood map suits people who want something more personal than a skyline. It shows the streets that made up daily life, the route home, the school, the corner shop, at a scale where they can be recognised.
