Te mapa
Tegal lies on the northern coast of Central Java, where the lowlands meet the Java Sea. The map is defined by that straight shoreline, a small harbour cut into it, and fishponds and river mouths along the edges. Inland, the streets form a fairly regular pattern of blocks, crossed by the railway and the main coastal highway that runs along Java's north shore.
That coastal road follows the line of the Great Post Road built across Java in the early nineteenth century, and Tegal grew as a stop on it and as a trading and fishing port. The centre still keeps colonial-era buildings from its time as a railway and administrative hub, grouped near the station and the town square.
Across Indonesia the name is familiar through the warteg, the simple warung tegal eateries run by people from the area, and through teh poci, tea brewed in a clay pot. A Tegal map poster shows a different side of the town: a neat coastal composition of harbour, grid and shoreline, with the flat farmland of the regency stretching away to the south.
The Java Sea forms a clean edge along the top of the map, with a small harbour and breakwaters interrupting the line near the centre of town.
The north-coast railway and the main highway run roughly in parallel across the town, two strong east–west lines that anchor the rest of the street grid.
Along the coast on either side, rectangular fishponds and narrow river outlets create a pattern of small geometric shapes where land and water mix.

Koteā ko Tegal
Tegal is a hometown for many people who now live in Jakarta and beyond, and a map of it carries the place into another city's rooms. The simple coastal layout makes a clean, balanced image even for those who have never visited.
Personalise it with a title, a subtitle in any wording you like, and the coordinates line. The five styles include Paper and Sand for a softer look. Choose the $9 digital files in six sizes, or a printed poster on matte paper with an optional wooden frame.
