Thāna Bhawan is a small town in the Shamli district of western Uttar Pradesh, in the fertile Doab between the Ganges and the Yamuna. From above, the town is compact. A knot of narrow lanes and closely packed houses sits at the centre, with roads leading out to neighbouring villages.
