Tīrān is the administrative centre of Tiran and Karvan County in Isfahan Province, set on an upland plain west of the city of Isfahan with the Zagros ranges rising beyond. From above, the town gathers around a handful of main roads, with a denser core where older lanes run close together and newer blocks spreading outward in more regular lines.
The landscape around it is agricultural. Fields and orchard plots divide the land into small irregular parcels, and in a semi-arid region like this every line of green follows the path of water.
